Lyrics
Ancient Mothers
We rise up, no longer silent,
no longer voices lost in darkness,
weaving music from the rhythms
of a reawakening light.
We rise up from deepest oceans,
water glistening on our bodies,
wearing shells and strands of seaweed
to remind us of our home.
We rise up in sacred fires
becoming dreamers in the circle
where our visions dance up twining
with the snaking, rising smoke.
We rise up in ancient blessing,
hands of light toward the sky,
newborn children of the morning,
ancient mothers of the night.
